Employment of massage therapists is projected to grow 20 percent from 2021 to 2031, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics, much faster than the average for all occupations.

Professional massage therapists are in demand because of the benefits of massage therapy itself. These benefits include holistic health, an alternative to traditional medical solutions to pain, and the ability to relax.

Schedule

Flexibility

Professional massage therapists find work in a variety of settings, including massage clinics, cruise ships, spas, medical offices, health clubs, and sports medicine centers, or they choose a private practice.

They may enjoy flexible work hours or set their own schedule, depending on their employment status, also.

People who seek massage therapy services often are experiencing some type of discomfort, whether from stress, an injury, or general pain. In Loving Memory of Mary Ann McWilliams

November 21, 1934 - March 23, 2023

The Alpena Institute of Massage is dedicated to the honor and memory of Mary Ann McWilliams. A mother, a friend, a coach, a teacher with a passion for education and a belief that it should be fun and rewarding. She taught that to commit to something was to do it with faith, courage and enthusiasm.

I offer you this same commitment and philosophy.

Testimonials

I am a busy wife, mother, friend, daughter and boss. I have always wanted to
help others in a holistic way. Although I never knew exactly how… until the day I
received my first massage. The massage was wonderful but it is how I felt afterwards
that really stuck with me and that’s when it hit me…massage therapy was how I would
help others.
When I heard Alpena Institute of Massage was opening, I was beyond excited. I went to
the open house and felt very welcomed and at “home”, and enrolled immediately AND, I
love it more than I thought I would (as it has been a few years since I attended school).
Even as I student, hearing clients I practice on tell me how much better they feel after is
one of the best feelings ever!
I could not do this without my instructors. They have been by my (our) side the entire
time without hesitation! They have made it their mission for us to succeed. Even on their
time off they are available. The curriculum is well rounded and focused, and class time
is both educational and fun.
If you are considering massage therapy as a possible career, I recommend you “aim
higher” and attend Alpena Institute of Massage.
